Mountain Lakes Summer 2010 Assignments

English

The Mountain Lakes High School English department has once again provided a list of required summer readings for all students. We have also compiled a list of suggested readings. It is our hope that the list of suggested readings will encourage the habit of reading for pleasure.

The required readings are accompanied by focus questions or ideas to be kept in mind as you read. The English department faculty members strongly urge you to keep a reading journal to record thoughts and observations regarding the focal points and questions that have been provided. In September, you will find a reading journal helpful in discussions about the books as well as in preparation for the test that all teachers give about the required summer reading selections.

Students often find it valuable to make notes in the required books, so you might want to purchase your own books. Local bookstores and libraries have been provided with copies of our reading list.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Have an enjoyable, restful summer!
