Trish Filiaci and Carla Marino recently graduated from the "First Years" program through a distance learning model at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The program is offered in collaboration with the Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
The First Years program is designed and committed to allow professionals working in the field of deaf education to enhance their knowledge and skills related to auditory/oral and auditory/verbal methods of instruction and intervention. It is offered to teachers of the deaf, speech/language pathologists, audiologists and clinicians working in early intervention programs. Courses included topics within the areas of speech acoustics, anatomy and physiology of the auditory system, audiological management, hearing aids, cochlear implants, classroom amplification, development of spoken language and speech production as well as emerging literacy.
Ms. Filiaci and Ms. Marino each received a certificate in auditory learning for young children with hearing loss.
Congratulations to both of them! We're proud of their accomplishment and know their expertise will enhance our program!
