The ability to use and feel familiar with technology is as
crucial a skill as reading, writing and math. Today's students must be
comfortable with all types of technology to keep in step with the modern
world.
At Lake Drive, we are fortunate that we can provide access to current
technology as part of our day-to-day teaching. Our inventory includes the latest equipment, such as MacBooks, Intel iMacs, SmartBoards, digital cameras and camcorders, data projectors and digital voice recorders. Lake Drive's
building-wide network, using both Ethernet and wireless
components, is part of Mountain Lakes School District's wide area network.
Mobile labs, containing MacBooks and iBooks, have enabled each student in a class to work
individually. SmartBoards, interactive white
boards, have been installed into all of our classrooms at Lake Drive, Briarcliff and the High School. The SmartBoard, with touch screen
functionality, has enhanced classroom instruction and student participation,
and has proven to be an exciting addition to the classroom environment.
All of our students, even our preschool children, have exposure to the
computer on a daily basis. The youngest use programs geared to test
and improve memory skills, eye-hand coordination, number and letter
recognition and mouse and keyboard skills. As the children move up in grade
level, they use varied math, science and social studies programs to help
reinforce class work. Older students are taught to use office-oriented, multimedia and web-publishing software.
We continue to add to our software and hardware inventory to keep abreast of
new developments in technology.
