Elementary Art


 

Grounded in Discipline Based Art Education (aesthetics, art criticism, art history, art production).


 

Supports all children's learning through classroom use of Howard Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences.

Differentiation of instruction so all children will be successful.



 

Extensive use of storybooks, films, computer resources and slides to both stir the imagination and teach concepts such as color, technique, style and art's historic and cultural significance.

Denise Mastroieni, our art teacher, received the Governor's Award in 2000.


 

Mrs. Mastroieni's program was awarded $7500.00 by Fleet Bank for her student Summer Mural Program.



 

Denise Mastroieni along with Kathy Tilley, Lake Drive librarian, were selected for National Gallery of Art's Summer Teacher Program and are featured on their website.
